spring plant walks
What to Expect
These walks are led by Sunset neighbor and herbalist kelly lecoy, focused on edible and medicinal springtime plants growing in Golden Gate Park. Each walk is slightly different, but you can expect to learn:
a little history of the park and the land
identification and edible & medicinal qualities of: nettle, rooreh (winter purslane), chickweed, cleavers, oxalis, three-cornered leek, nasturtium
depending on the growing cycle and time available on the walk, we may also explore: oat, dandelion, plantain, eucalyptus, wild radish, wild mustard, blackberry, tea tree, red root, fennel, yarrow, wormwood, california poppy, borage, or hawthorn.

Sunday 3/22, 11a-12:30p
Thursday 3/26 5:30p-7p
Saturday 4/4, 11a-12:30p
Tuesday 4/7, 5:30p-7p
Additional details: The walk will be about a mile with multiple stops along the way and will take 75-90 minutes. Please come prepared with comfortable shoes and water.
Meeting Place: We will meet on the west side of Golden Gate Park near 45th and Lincoln. Exact location to be shared via email after registration.
Cost: $10-$30, sliding scale

Cancellation policy: Registrations are refundable up to 48 hours before the event.
Add On: There is an option to add on a bottle of nutritive vinegar, made with fresh extracts of a couple of the plants we’ll meet on the walk, nettle and chickweed. You can choose to have this shipped, or select Local Pickup at check-out to get the bottle at the plant walk.
